GOLD REFINING

Physical Schedule

The following schedule can be employed for recognizable karat gold jewelry type scrap only, and is generally used only on very small (less than 2 - 3 oz. t.) quantities. Pricing can be based on 2nd London Fix or spot market. When priced on the spot market, pricing is generally at a discount to spot that can vary depending upon then current conditions.
When shipping to us include a note on company letterhead indicating the weight of contents and that you want it processed on the Physical Schedule. If you are shipping to us for the first time, certain information is required to open an account. Karat Grade Refining Schedule

This schedule applies to material that requires normal pre-processing and is readily meltable such as jewelry scrap, bench sweeps, bars & buttons, placer gold and dore bars and has a fine gold content of 40% or more; if gold only, settlement 4 business days after receipt/melt and sampling. Materials containing PGMs incure longer settlement times. Pricing of gold on full 2nd fix or on spot market. Pricing on spot market usually subject to a discount that can vary depending on quantity and market conditions. PGMs usually priced at slight discount to market. XRF Option
On smaller lots it is more economical to settle after melt on XRF analysis instead of full assay. This is the general procedure we will follow unless otherwise directed by you. When the XRF option is used, the major gold component will be accounted for at 2.0% less than by full assay, minor elements of mid-range (generally between 2- 25%) accounted for at 20% less than by full assay, minor elements of low concentration (less than 2%) accounted for at 40% less than via full assay, <1% not accountable.  the treatment charge is lowered to $75.

*The treatment charge listed is inclusive of one hour of processing. Should the difficulty of the material necessitate additional time, there will be an additional charge of the base treatment charge rate x the number of hours in excess of the first hour.

** Notes on Platinum, Palladium and other PGMs
1) Accountability <1.0%, 70; 1.0 - 5.0% 80; 5.0%+ 90
2) Assay charge of $150 1st element, $100 each additional
3) Settlement time 15 weeks from melt and sampling
4) Subject to minimum .25 oz. t deduction each metal
5) Pt/Pd purchased at 2nd fix less $10 per oz. t
6) Sale and/or payment before settlement is subject to a finance charge at the then current prime rate plus     4% per annum.
7) Accountability, terms and charge for other PGMs on a case-by-case basis, contact us for details

Diamond Removal
1) Small quantities of diamonds and other stones can be removed one-by-one at a per stone charge. Contact us for details during normal New York business hours at 1800-543-3420 or 212-840-3286 or any time at This email address is being protected from spambots. 2) When material contains a large quantity of diamonds or some other precious stones that are worth recovering, you might want to consider having the material refined directly as a separate lot under the following terms:

1) Refer to the Karat Gold accountability chart above

2) $500 flat rate processing charge

3) Settlement: Generally 1 week - 10 days

4) Diamonds and other precious stones will be returned

Excessive Preparation and/or processing
1) Sometimes material requires excessive preparation before melting or other processing (such as burn-out, demagnetization, milling, screening, removal of extraneous material, etc.). These services will result in an extra charge on a case-by-case basis but generally at a rate of $75 per hour.
2) Sometimes material requires more than one melt to obtain a heterogeneous sample in which case additional melts incur an additional $25 charge each.
3) Sometimes additions material and/compounds are required to obtain a heterogeneous melt and as a result may result in extra charges.

Low Grade Refining Schedule

The following Refining Schedule applies both to material assaying from .1 - 40% that requires no preprocessing and material that requires preprocessing such as the addition of copper to dissolve magnetics, burnouts, milling and sieving, etc..Settlement time varies depending on type of material, but generally 15 working days from day of receipt/start of processing.
