In this section you will find are a number of very helpful charts that can be extremely helpful in calculating weights, sizes and cost in precious metals fabrication.

Precious Metals Weight Equivalence Chart

To determine the equivalent weight of two different metals, find the metal you wish to convert FROM in the column on the left. Follow this row to the right until you are under the metal (at the top of the chart) you wish to convert TO. The factor you find at this intersection multiply by the weight of the metal you are converting FROM (left column). This will give you the approximate weight of the metal you wish to convert TO.

For Example: You have a sterling silver model and you wish to know what it will weigh then cast in 14K yellow. Look down the column on the left until you find SS(second item). Follow the row across to the right until you are under 14Y(third column from the left). The factor is 1.26. Multiply this by the weight of your SS model and you have the approximate weight in 14K Yellow. If your model weighs 2 dwt.,then in 14Y it will weigh about 2.52 dwt.
